Eisdrive Hours of Steel EP Review

This is not pretty listening… at all. This is as Industrial as hell. From Montclair, New Jersey (East Coast of the United States) comes Eisdrive; and their new four-track EP “Hours of Steel.” A Clockwork of dark and gritty… edgy sounds, uneasy listening, Eisdrive deliver an apocalyptic type of industrial which is akin to great acts like Front Line Assembly and early Leaether Strip.… but in no way copies the sound. TAMLA KAHN.

Today we speak to an up and coming South African three-piece rock outfit Tamla Kahn. Now they have an interesting story, coming from a small Limpopo town and relocating to Gauteng to keep up with demand to see them play. What’s the history of Tamla Kahn and origin of your name? John joined the band on 6 February, 2010 and we consider this our official birthday. Before he joined, the band had gone through several working titles, but it was everyone’s decision in the end to call the band Tamla Kahn –Tamla’s full name being Tamla Kahn McMahon– not only because Tamla had started the band, but also because it is original and unique, and we didn’t just want a […]

K-BEREIT!

LESSON ONE. Industrial with glamour -positive sounds and negative beats. That’s what you can expect from France’s legendary K-Beriet.  START RUNNING. History of your project? I met them at a private event in Belgium in 2011. They played 4 songs of their new album, and I really liked it. We spent the whole night together, and we had a lot of fun. We used Facebook to talk everyday, and they sent me songs ans stuff to have new opinions about their music. Dominique was already in his new concept, with the mask stuff and the whole visual part. I asked them to be their booking agent, and we did like 20 gigs in one year. The album was a real success, we […]

South African Metal Music Awards. (2014)

With much excitement and anticipation the FIRST South African Metal Music Awards finally occurred last Saturday, 8th February, 2014. (We sent our top Metal reviewer to this legendary event. -Ed.) It was time to pay homage to some of South Africa’s best Metal and Alternative acts. Hosted at Rumours Lounge and being the first of its kind, I was not sure what to expect, but for the most part I was pleasantly surprised. While the organisation could have been better, and the venue could have been a bit cooler, it was a awesome evening of good music, good friends, excellent food, and awesome talent, with some of South Africa’s most influential Rock Gods in one place. With 17 categories of […]

LEVEL 2.0

WHITE LIES! Trolling the internet for music, as I normally do, I stumbled across Level 2.0 an American Future Pop/EBM outfit, with very catchy and familiar Synth lines that make you want to raise your hands in the air, base lines that demand you stomp your feet too in other words, party music. ANGELFIRE! Right I’ll fire away. Level 2.0 tell us a little about the project and its name? Level 2.0 (pronounced level two-point-zero) was created in 2005 between myself (Mike Hoffman) and Matt Clennan. We both had the same exact taste in electronic bands and both wanted to just create one song to listen to in the car that was “ours” when we drove around. And we wanted it to […]

Lamb of God Live in Johannesburg!

AS THE PALACES BURN. (2003) Last Saturday, 25th January, it was time for an event that many like-minded South African Metal Fans had been looking forward to for months, Lamb of God! Despite supposed protests by various religious groups regarding the concert, on arriving at Nasrec, it was refreshing to see everyone ready and willing to have a good time! And no protesters. ASHES OF THE WAKE. (2004) The opening act was Mind Assault from Cape Town. I have no idea why I haven’t seen them before because these guys were absolutely amazing. They were the perfect opening act to get the crowd ready for what was coming! Next up was The Drift. Though being relatively new comers as a […]
