.5:The Gray Chapter Prieview

.5:The Gray Chapter is the 5th Studio album by US band SlipKnoT. Released worldwide on 21 October 2014 this is their first album release in six years, and the first not to feature deceased bassist Paul Gray (whom the album title is an ode to) or  drummer Joey Jordison, who parted ways with the band in 2013. The album contains a balance of the melodic style of newer albums, but also incorporates the harder more brutal style of the Iowa era. The pain the band suffered from the loss of Paul is evident in the sombre tone of the album, as well as Corey Taylor’s emotional lyrics. The emotional track Goodbye and the frustrated Skeptic are both clear tributes to […]

Halloween is time to eat treats, just remember Don’t Starve

“Say pal, you don’t look so good. You better find something to eat before night comes!” -Maxwell. Don’t Starve, while not necessarily scary, is the perfect game for the Halloween season. The game, developed by Klei Entertainment is a rouge-like survival horror, set in a procedurally generated pseudo 3D world. Don’t Starve takes the basic premise of being stranded on an island and having to fend for yourself, and seeds it with all kinds of creepy terrors. While the base concept is nothing new to film (Lost, Castaway, etc) Few games have touched on this subject, and even fewer have succeed. In fact before the arrival of eagerly awaited The Forrest, the most successful “Trapped on a desert Island” on […]

rAge 2014

Early in morning of Saturday, 11 October 2014, two friends head (You know I don’t approve of you seeing girls… I meant people. -Ed) out on an epic quest. Far in the land of the north lies a grand citadel, known as The Coca-Cola Dome. One weekend each October, this site becomes a holy congregation of the South African nerd/geek/gamer community. This festival is a three day orgy of technology, gaming, cosplayers and geeks. Our pilgrims arrive early after a hearty breakfast, quickly collect their tags at the door, and wonder in towards the mass of people hurriedly scurrying in and out of the various booths and stalls on offer. rAge is the premier technology and gaming event in South […]

Dune in Film

“Too much knowledge never makes for simple decisions” -Raphael Corrino. The Dune Saga is possibly one of the greatest literary works in human history, and without a doubt my favourite series of novels.  With this being the case it is both surprising, and depressing that it has made it’s way to the big (and small) screen so few times, and in all cases only a small part of the story was adapted. As a Dune fanatic please allow me to take you through my  take on the attempts that have been made. I’ll end off with my theory on how to approach televising the franchise. Lynch’s Dune: 1984 The first Dune to make it to film was the 1984 feature […]

The system is usually chatting to around 80,000 people at a time, and is constantly assimilating new information from these conversations, as opposed to other similar system that are pre-programmed with a set of responses.  Clever bot was developed by British AI scientist Rollo Carpenter. As we at 925Rebellion are often dealing with technology and computers, allow me to present you possibly a world first, an interview with a computer. What is the scariest part of being an AI ? I don’t know. You tell me. What’s the worst part about being an AI? The fact […]

Twisted Insurrection

“Welcome back Commander.” You may have heard that the villainous GDI had defeated the righteous Brotherhood of NOD in the Tiberium War, but I implore you brother, not to listen to such heinous propaganda – it is spread by the evil EA Corporation. In truth, by 1998 The Brotherhood had near total dominion over the planet. Around the year 2000, our grand newly designed Temple of Nod was constructed in South Africa. (Must have been an RDP project. -Ed.) This was considered to be the means of carrying out Kane’s divine plans for a Tiberium Future. The scattered remnants of Global Defense Initiative attempted to infiltrate and sabotage the great temple, but were unsuccessful. Four months after the construction of […]

Lurking – An Indie Horror Game

“Sound is the only way you can see and they, they can hear your fears.” Lurking is an Indie Horror Game, but unlike many recent Indie Horrors, it is n0t just a generic Slender clone. Most of the game happens in pitch darkness and, as you have no source of illumination, you must navigate using a form of echolocation. In game sounds such as your footsteps as you walk around, thrown objects hitting something or just noisy props as well as any sound recorded from your computer’s microphone (including breathing) and  will cause sound waves to ripple out from the source. The louder the sound the further the wave travels. As the waves intersect objects they are briefly revealed Comic […]
