The Neighbours Magical Medievil Fayre, Now with Authentic Rain

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the annual Medieval Fayre, hosted by Neighbours. The weekend took off with a mostly welcomed return of the spring rains. Undeterred by all the falling wetness I pushed onward to the adventure. (You and I both know Scotland has two types of weather: Wet and Wetter. Ed) Despite being dreary, drizzling and mud soaked, I was immediately impressed with the turnout at the annual fayre. I surveyed my surroundings, all manner of stalls were there and people buzzed around like bees after mead. After successfully navigating the maze of mud and sludge I came across a series of blacksmiths hammering away, while on the horizon armoured knights were battling away. [youtube id=”vvhQBQpWKH8″ […]

What inspired you to get into cosplay? What inspired me was my love to dress up and have fun since. So why did you choose Harley Quinn? I chose Harley originally wanting […]

The Controversy in Cosplay

In the world of escapism, where all things go and where one should be accepted, even controversy happens. And the world of Cosplay is no different, why should we expect it to be? Dressing up and mimicking characters adored and revered by millions will have controversial effects if it should be done wrong, or it could invoke jealous backlashes from those envious of a skilled Cosplayer. Both within the culture and from those observing from the outside of it, people have been upset by Cosplay. Controversy has been caused when outsiders of this lifestyle have not been able to understand the meaning behind the Cosplay and controversy has been seen within the community, when passions over attire and attitudes have […]

Martin Castein

Today we speak to an amazing photographer, Martin Castein. Would you like to introduce yourself? I’m a portrait photographer based in London, I shoot traditional and fine art portraits and artistic family photos. What’s your photography history? A few years ago my girlfriend had an accident and nearly died. It took a couple of years for her to recover and she decided to take up photography as a kind of occupational therapy. Smallville Cosplay Competition

This past weekend Smallville Comics 2.0 hosted there first annual cosplay competition. There is only one way to describe this competition: It is how a cosplay competition is meant to be run. Before we look into the details behind the competition lets look at the event as a whole. The store not only had the competition running throughout the day but also had many specials running in the store as well as had a mini flea market running in the empty store next door to them. The overall feeling/vibe of the event differs greatly from that of other events, its more relaxed than the larger events which just adds to the overall enjoyment of the event. There is not this […]
