Cosplayer of the month: Batman

Today we speak to Batman’s other alter ego, Douw. Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am Douw Kotze, but I prefer to be called either Daiki/Daniella or Dani. I am gender-fluid and I’m a writer, gamer, otaku, photographer and a Cosplayer. My Cosplay name/alias/Persona is Silver Angel C. You can find me here www.facebook.com/SilverAngelC What inspired you to cosplay? Well, it kinda goes back to my early childhood where I loved to dress up as Batman and Superman, running around the house and jumping on and off the couches, wanting to be the heroes I’ve grown up with. Later in my life I saw some footage of people dressing up as heroes and characters from so many different […]

Rhine.

Today we speak to Rhine. So what’s the history of your band? The band was founded by Gabe Tachell who plays guitar and sings. He began by recording the first album himself in 2011 at his home in Seattle. He studied audio engineering and worked in a studio before finishing the album. He has a pretty diverse background, having been raised by opera singers, he lived in New York, Germany, England and Seattle. He met guitarist Alex Smolin in 2013 who was interested in helping him start a band. They recruited Gabe’s friend James Porter on bass, and eventually found Carlos Delgado to play drums. Carlos is still an active member of Inferion, and has played with many bands over […]

Like Animals

Today we speak to the amazing Like Animals. So what’s the history of your band? the history of the band is nebulous to me… What genre of music do you consider your work to be? it’s hard to define. when I came into the picture, we started writing as a band, and the sound that came forth was packed with our individual influences. you can hear prog, parts that make you wanna groove and parts that make you wanna thrash. a very diverse feel that I am unable to fit into a genre. What can you tell us of your style and your sound? we like the eclectic. Mr bungle, faith no more, protest the hero, fall of troy, the […]

Cosplayer of the month: Saeko Busujima

Today we speak to local cosplayer, Saiyuki. Tell us a little bit about yourself: My name is Kayleigh, although most people in the cosplay community know me as Saiyuki or Saiyuu. I am a 19 (nearly 20 x’D) year old cosplayer from Port Elizabeth. My hobbies include: Cosplaying, Figurine browsing, Procrastinating, watching the same 10 (approximately) anime over and over. What inspired you to cosplay? Honestly, I have my wonderful and very talented best friend (Nakashi) to thank for the Idea. We got into cosplaying together, so you could say my partner inspired me. What inspires your style of cosplay? (Anime, Star Wars, Gaming?) I’m mostly lean towards Anime cosplays, But I am breaking out of that shell and heading […]

Kiss Is Kill

Today we speak to Kiss Is Kill. How did Kiss Is Kill start? There are a couple of reasons I decided to start making music as Kiss Is Kill.  Firstly, I’m in another band called Triptaka, and as anyone in a band knows, it can be a challenge co-ordinating multiple artists who are all juggling jobs and lives.  So because of this it’s been difficult for us to release new material.  Because new Triptaka music wasn’t coming together as fast as I’d like, I decided to start making some tracks on my own.  Secondly, I am very fortunate to have a career composing music for film and television, a job that I enjoy very much.  It’s very fulfilling to have […]

GOMORRAH – Band interview

Today we speak to the amazing Gomorrah. So what’s the history of your band? The band was formed by a bunch of high school kids back in 2006. I joined the band in 2009 when one of the guitarists quit to pursue an acoustic solo project. The band was a garage band for several years, doing a few demos and scratch track recordings until we formed the fist official line up in late 2012 which went on to write and perform tracks for our first full length release in 2013, Perception. After that, members began losing interest and putting the band on back burner due to work and family responsibilities, and all of the members went their own way. I […]

Wookiee: Beard of the month

At last we have arrived in December. A years worth of cosplayers have com and gone. Some amazing. Some mediocre. But none of them Wookiee… until now! To start off, please can you just tell us a bit about yourself? (Who are you? Where do you come from? What are you made of?) Long ago, a wise old sage predicted the coming of a mysterious being -a mighty person born from pure fabulousness, destined to be the saviour of mankind. I am probably not this being. What inspired you to get into Big and Beardy cosplaying? Not much really. I’m big and hairy and I like dressing up but don’t have time or money to be fancy about it. So […]

GRYPT

Another day, another amazing band. This week we sit down with Romie and Taylor from Grypt. Now you’ve only been around a few years. How did Grypt start? Taylor: Romie and I have known each other and made music together for most of the past decade and we’d often talked about how fun it would be to get together for a weekend and just try to make something explicitly dark. At some point we both had time, and we got together and wrote most of “Terrible Fish / Brown + Orange Streaks” over about 3 days without really thinking too much about what we were doing. When we listened to the songs afterwards, we both decided that it was a […]

Mia Vore

Today we speak to the amazing Mia Vore. Would you care to introduce yourself? My name is Mia Vore! (Sarah Grainger to some). I’m a Yorkshire lass living in Manchester. I’m an actress and also run a part-time business coaching and mentoring people to be their own boss working from home. What inspired you to become an actor, and what continues to inspire you? It might sound like a bit of a cliché but I was born to act. It’s in my blood. We are all creative in my family; either dancers, actors or musicians! I used to dance in the streets when I was 3 and people would give me money! I get daily inspired by amazing acting I […]

Going to school with Gary Glitters Nephew!

It was all because of Ryan Smith. It will always be about Ryan Smith. Last weekend, Wookiee and I were interviewed by a few of the crazy lads from Geek Node. Geek Node are essentially a geek related gang of misfits and dreamers -they are like us, except with more games and fewer music reviews. Also, they do not have a tamed Scotsman and a nice hat. They do have a pikey. Not sure if that is a good thing? What did we chat about? Well, the usual sort of thing. We chatted about Sci-Fi Con, and games, mods, films, Rule 34, dodgy games and tentacle porn, SO MUCH TENTACLE PORN! All this insanity can be heard HERE Thanks to […]
