Elvis Einstein

We recently chatted to the legendary Elvis Einstein. What’s the history of Elvis Einstein?  I first came into existence on the seventy fifth layer of the Abyss, but somewhere around twenty years ago, I escaped that realm of shadow into this dimension, and attached myself to a young human by the name of Randy. I was drawn to his feelings of anger and outrage, and we have had a symbiotic relationship ever since What genre of music do you consider Elvis Einstein to be? Most would consider my particular brand of musical expression as somewhere between Gothic Rock, and Industrial… But I am sure there are people who know their sub-genres better than I… There are hundreds these days after […]

An Open Window

Today we speak to Patrick Ryder about his new film, ‘An Open Window.’ So what inspired you to create a An Open Window? Growing up I was hugely influenced by the X files, it was a show which really changed my outlook on television and production. I have made films for several years but I thought it would be really fun to make a short in the same vein as The X Files or those old classic Hammer horror films. What was the production like? It was wonderful. We had a set amount if days to shoot so it was very much about shooting in sections to make sure we had everything we needed. All the actors, especially Ais De’ath […]

The Crow: Shreds of Memories – Fan Film

The Crow is a film/comic series that many of us have loved for years. So it is with great joy and enthusiasm that I introduce Italian film maker Pietro Cinieri, who recently produced a fan-made Crow movie. So what inspired you to create a Crow fan film?  I was inspired by my big passion for Proyas’ film. Furthermore, as a comic lover, I couldn’t not admire O’Barr’s work. These two factors, together with the themes of the story, feed my imagination. What was the production like?  The production wasn’t simple, particularly because it was a zero-budget project. We spent one year finding the right actor for Eric. In 2013 we bean the shooting and the production lasted one year because […]

The Sweetest Condition

Today, for our final interview, we chat to the amazing American band, The Sweetest Condition. What’s the history of The Sweetest Condition? Leslie Irene Benson (lyrics + vocals + marketing): We met at a nightclub called The Vault in Indianapolis, Indiana, back in 2004. Jason and I were regulars at events like Wicked Wednesday and quickly became friends. At the time, I was a young journalism student publishing a Goth/industrial music magazine called “Echo Immortalis.” Jason was the frontman, synth-player and guitarist of Form 30, who introduced me to his friend Romell Regulacion of Razed in Black—one of my first interviews in the scene. When Jason was interested in starting a new music project, we teamed up and starting recording […]

In-depth triple shoot cosplay. (Part 3)

-Valka- Welcome to the third and final week of this unique cosplay journey. Today we look at the final and most complex cosplay produced by Adele (Gothcatgirl’s Cosplay Adventures) and Andrew (Bake by AJ). What made you decide to go with Valka? I was re-watching How to Train Your Dragon for the umpteenth time, and she suddenly jumped out at me. I loved how eccentric and misunderstood she was. How isolated. And how she turned that into a force for good. Also, the outfit was insane. The level  of engineering that would go into the outfit, was almost a case of the unachievable. Which meant it was a challenge. What sort of research did you do for Valka? Apart from re-watching […]

In-depth triple shoot cosplay. (Part 2)

-Viking Maiden- Welcome back. Welcome to the second week of this unique cosplay-photography experience.  Once again we join legendary cosplayer Adele (Gothcatgirl’s Cosplay Adventures) and photographer Andrew (Bake by AJ). Why Vikings? Why not?  I have Scottish blood in me, so I claim a wee bit Norse blood!  Also, vikings are badass.  Their gods are epic.  Their lives were dramatic. (Nothing like dying of old age at thirty. Ed) No horned helmet? Nope, according to archaeological digs they wore leather and beaten steel helms.  No horns in sight. (They wore skull caps, like their Norman descendants.) The horns became popular when it was in operas in the 1800’s. How did the TV series influence you? Utterly.  Lagertha and the other […]

In-depth triple shoot cosplay. (Part 1)

-Cleopatra- A few weeks ago I was invited to a cosplay photoshoot. Now I have been to a few such shoots over the past few years, but this one was something different. For one, we were shooting three cosplay characters at once -most of whom were retiring after the shoot. We also decided that we’d break from the traditional cosplay article, and instead, do an article that focused on the characters, its creation, and the photographers work and skills. So join me over the next three weeks as I chat to Adele (Gothcatgirl’s Cosplay Adventures) about her various cosplays, and Andrew (Bake by AJ) about the skills he uses to pull the shoots off. Why Cleopatra? For some odd reason, […]

Cosplayer of the month: Batman

Today we speak to Batman’s other alter ego, Douw. Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am Douw Kotze, but I prefer to be called either Daiki/Daniella or Dani. I am gender-fluid and I’m a writer, gamer, otaku, photographer and a Cosplayer. My Cosplay name/alias/Persona is Silver Angel C. You can find me here www.facebook.com/SilverAngelC What inspired you to cosplay? Well, it kinda goes back to my early childhood where I loved to dress up as Batman and Superman, running around the house and jumping on and off the couches, wanting to be the heroes I’ve grown up with. Later in my life I saw some footage of people dressing up as heroes and characters from so many different […]
