Zombie Film S.A.

Today we meet a local chap -Jarrod Saunders- who is producing short South African zombie films. Why a zombie movie? There are many answers to that question. One: because Zombies are relevant and trending. Two: because I wanted to do something a bit more fun with zombies and a Christian film (yes, this short film was funded by CVC Media, a Christian media company). Three: because it gave me a platform to experiment and do some of the weirdest things I’ve done in film so far. I mean there is so much stuff hidden in the short film that people haven’t seen or heard. For example, not many people notice the classic Frito’s jingle playing in the background of one […]

SHADOW SYSTEM!

Twisted Sex Malfunction.  Today we interview the Irish based band, Shadow System. Now Shadow System is a relatively new face in the underground electronic scene, though they have the style and the skill to become a major player. Cold And Double Bladed. What’s the origin of your name? The name took some time to get right. I wanted something with shadow in it but a lot of bands and DJ’s use Shadow. LARVA!

BURIED ALIVE! Today we speak to a well known Spanish, Dark-Electro band, LARVA. YOU ARE ALONE. What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? It has many nuances. The name became for what we feel sometimes: sometimes we feel like a worm, insignificant life form, underground, crawling. Nobody can’t feel us, nobody can’t see us. All the life is on the surface, and we are underground. The feeling of not belonging to a group. It also has to […]

GIRL MEETS BUG!

Silkworm Pancakes. Today we have a bit of a multi-legged treat for you. For today we speak to Daniella Martin, or as she is more widely known, Girl Meets Bug. Now for those of you who are not familiar with her, Daniella is an Insectivore or lover of Entomophagy. (That’s eating invertebrates. Bugs for the layman.) Bugs! Yes, you read that correctly. She is a lover of eating all things bug. Deep-fried crickets. Why invertebrates? They are abundant, sustainable to farm, and nutritious. Your favourite buggy meal? Waxworm tacos. What’s your message to the world? Mostly that not eating insects is an irrational choice we can no longer afford to make. Have you ever been to Africa? No, sadly. (You’d […]

VAC! (Velvet Acid Christ!)

CHURCH OF ACID. (1997) Today we interview one of my favourite American bands. VAC -Velvet Acid Christ. For over two decades VAC has been making waves and spreading weirdness throughout the underground music scene; with his unique lyrics, master sound sampling, and esoteric equipment tastes, VAC is set to continue reigning in the underground music scene for years to come. FUN WITH KNIVES. (1999) What’s origin of your name? My brain created it on drugs. LOL. What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Many fused together. Bits of Industrial, bits of Techno, bits of Trip-Hop, bits of EBM, bits of Goth, bits of Darkwave. Bits of weird. What’s the history of VAC? Started in 1990 in […]

I have just relocated to Brighton. Which has been absolutely wonderful! It’s a city that suits me just fine. Such diverse wonderful people… with the occasional harmless crazy thrown in. 02: What inspires your unique style? Paintings, film and music. I’m obsessed with the fashion and culture of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Realistically, I’m sure they were a horrible, horrible time to live […]

An interview with NICK POPE!

The Uninvited – 1997. Today I have a treat for you. Last week we looked at The Bureau: XCOM Declassified (An amazing game.), and during my research I discovered that a friend of mine was involved on the project. Nick Pope, one the world’s foremost UFOLOGISTS (UFO expert) and Conspiracy Theorists (No, he’s not a loon! He’s one of the few who looks for truth, NOT sensational stories.)  Nick worked for the British Ministry of Defence (MOD)  from 1985 to 2006. Over the past three-decades he has written several books – the titles of which are seen on this page – and worked on various TV shows, films and other media. Essentially he’s a “REAL-LIFE”, Fox Mulder… Wonder if he […]

Misfit Munchies.

Well today I decided to try something different. Today, we do our first sit down interview. Now I know that there are a number of games companies, comic-shops, and toy merchants available – but I’ve decided to go one better. TODAY WE LOOK AT CAKE!  And where better to start and discuss cakes then with a new and upcoming dessert shop? And not just ANY dessert shop, but one run by geeks. A GEEK CAKE PRODUCTION FACILITY! And I, your peaceful sugar-high overlord, was lucky enough to be at the lunch party for such an establishment. MISFIT MUNCHIES For the benefit of my readers, I’ve skipped the gay banter and blue waffles (They had soap in them), and have skipped […]
