Learnfast Training

Anyone who knows me, will know I am always looking to improve my knowledge. I feel if we are no longer learning, then we no longer have purpose and are mealy wasting our existence. With this in mind one can understand why I was excited when someone put me in contact with Learnfast. Learnfast is a country wide institution that offers training in a variety of subjects relating to Computer Skills, Graphic Design, Business Skills, Accounting, and CAD. As an IT Manager who did my training back when the internet was in it’s infancy, I decided to take their HTML course to fill in some of the gaps in my IT knowledge. “It is not that I’m so smart. […]

Once more… Oh, you should know the rest. Here’s my look at a few of my favourite Shakespearean actors. Sir Patrick Stewart: We start with one of the best. For nearly five decades this legendary Yorkshireman has thrilled and entertained the world through numerous roles and films. Stewart has done it all: small indie films, various stage plays, voice work (Elder Scrolls: Oblivion), Star Trek, X-Men and piles of other performances. Sir Anthony Hopkins: This great Welshman has thrilled and terrified the world with powerful and emotional performances for years, Hannibal Lecter being one that we all remember. Sir Ian McKellen: Before he became Gandalf and Magneto, Sir Ian McKellen had already made a name for himself as one of […]

For many he needs no introduction. Monkey D Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece. 90’s Aliens

“We’d better get back, ’cause it’ll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night… mostly.” -Newt. I’d like to take you on a journey, if I may? A journey to a time and place in my life that yielded great moments and amazing memories. Memories of a time and place where ALIEN toys were all the rage. That’s right people, welcome to my early teenage years and the best toys the 90’s had to offer. In 1992, Kenner produced and released a line of Alien toys that took the world by storm. (God, I still remember the first time I saw them in the shop. It was instant love.) The figures, as you can see from above, were a […]

Melting Technologies

So what’s the history of Melting Technologies? Melting Technologies was first established in 2011 when I recognized a gap in the market whilst purchasing laptops for personal use, online. I focused solely on students and on the lower end of the market, selling world class demo PCs at really great rates. Melting Technologies was a part time project as I still worked as a Sales Manager for a packaging company – full time. Eventually the work load got too heavy on both ends and I decided to commit to my full time job. 3 years later, I decided to dedicate myself to the dream I built and focus on Melting Technologies 100%. I relaunched on the 2nd of March 2015. How long have you been around? Established in 2011, fully operational for 2 […]

Magic 101: A Brief Introduction

If you are a geek worth your salt, you will surely have heard of the popular and resilient trading card game, Magic: The Gathering (MTG). Perhaps you are already an avid player or maybe you have been wanting to play but are too afraid of making a fool of yourself the first time out. This, in essence, is what this series is about. Love it or hate it, MTG has been around since 1993 and shows no signs or going anywhere anytime soon. The basic premise of MTG is that you are one of two wizards or “planeswalkers” dueling it out to the death casting spells, summoning creatures and putting various artifacts into play. You use your deck of 60 […]

Sebastian Wilde

So what’s the history of Sebastian Wilde? It has been rather a convoluted path getting to this point, but I think the signs have been there all along. I started teaching myself to sew when I was about 12 or 13, I had a very peculiar dress sense and found all the clothes in the shops to be terribly boring so I wanted to be able to make my wardrobe exciting and different. Throughout high-school I sewed most of my own stuff and viewed everyday as a chance to dress up as much as possible. It seems pretty obvious that I should have just gone to study fashion design or something, but through a series of plot twists and life […]

This weekend past I have the privilege to go to the grand opening of Smallville Comics new store, which is often referred to as Smallville 2.0. It located in Penzance Street , New Redruth , Alberton, and if I must say it is a stunning store. The first images you get of the store are stunning decals of Batman and Superman at the enterence. with more decals extending across all the windows to encircle the store in comic book planes and characters giving you no doubt as to what is being sold inside. Once inside the store you are greeting by a replica of Batman’s mask. The walls have been painted a Superman blue and every were you look is […]

Last week we spoke to the makers of the best chess sets on the planet, ChessBaron. So what’s the history of ChessBaron Chess sets? Well John, Just over 10 years ago, we wanted to market a range of Staunton chess sets that were not available in the UK. The USA was just starting to get some nice new designs that were a little different than the standard Staunton chess designs – but the UK didn’t have them. Modern Rebel Victorians – The Steampunk Society

“Steampunk is…a joyous fantasy of the past, allowing us to revel in nostalgia for what never was. It is a literary playground for adventure, spectacle, drama, escapism and exploration. But most of all it is fun!”-George Man. Airships, mechanical machines, Victorian outfits and fancy masks. What do all of these seemingly unrelated things have in common? Well they have all found a place in the hearts of Steampunk fans. In worlds where old fashions meet new industrial trimmings have given fans of this culture a reason to get together and share their steampunk interests and ideas.
