Hit by the Rebels – Lego Marvel Superheroes

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. The proof that this statement holds truth is in the toys we play with; as kids we loved Lego and we loved heroes, as adults we love the same stuff but instead prefer it in digital format because it is easier to clean up once done playing (laziness is proof of age after all). TT Games realised our obsession with plastic bricks and has strived to provide us with our fill of thereof. Lego Marvel Superheroes is a 2013 action-adventure videogame based on the Marvel universe with more or less 150 playable characters that is available on PC, PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita, Xbox One and 360 and Wii U. Hit by the Rebels – Death Track Resurrection

Remember that movie where the prison inmates had to race armoured and weaponised custom vehicles and win a “season” in order to earn their freedom, the one where they would choose ridiculously lame aliases like most gamers do when choosing a character name in an MMO after you’ve realised your usual names have been taken? Death Track: Resurrection is pretty much what happens when you turn Death Race into a semi-functional game, even if the Death Track series has been around longer. Death Track: Resurrection was developed by SkyFallen Entertainment and published by 1C Company in 2009 for PC and PlayStation Network. Hit by the Rebels – Alien vs Predator 2010

Before the recent and exceptionally successful Alien: Isolation, there were several other iterations of the Alien vs Predator franchise games; some dreadful, others thrillingly awesome. Alien VS Predator 2010 was one of the better titles. AVP 2010 is a first-person shooter title that was developed by Rebellion (not us, we plead innocence) and published by Sega for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, in 2010 (Obviously). It was good enough to satiate the lust for gored human corpses and space hunting, but not as noteworthy as the latest instalment. [youtube id=”KQuygrI_b4k” width=”600″ height=”350″] AVP 2012 is played from a first-person perspective as a human, predator or alien depending on the player’s choice, each with their own unique set of abilities […]

Hit by the Rebels – City Life

I for one have a difficult time running my own life with all the ups and downs and what have you, but for some their own lives just isn’t enough. These are the individuals that would enjoy trying to balance budgets, building, resources and different economic groups within a virtual space and call it fun. These are the sorts that would play City Life. City Life is a SimCity like game, or a City Building Game, developed by Monte Cristo and published by Deep Silver for Windows and Nintendo DS back in 2006. [youtube id=”8WZqObyCc90″ width=”600″ height=”350″] In City Life the player represents the city and must build a thriving metropolis starting from the ground up. This requires that the […]

Hit by the Rebels – BattleBlock Theatre

If you’ve played the Saints Row games, heard of the toast simulator named “I am bread” or seen the many unspeakable things people do and create in Sims then you start believing you’ve seen everything. That’s normally when one more weird loony game comes by and proves that there are still things which can surprise you. Enter Battleblock Theatre. Developed by The Behemoth and Big Timber Studio for Xbox live arcade and PC, this 2013 platformer packs tons of entertainment value and head scratching strangeness in both its single player and co-op modes. [youtube id=”pv1ZoHt6poI” width=”600″ height=”350″] You start out with a stick puppet style cut scene that depicts a ship, the S.S. Friendship and its crew of hundreds of […]

Hit by the Rebels – Saint’s Row The Third

What up Gangstas! Here for your dose of awesome on this fine day I’m guessing. Good, let’s get this party started with the guns and cars and respect and stuff but first, make-up, because acting and all that jazz. Not sure what I’m on about? You’re missing out. Saints Row: The Third is a 2011 third-person action/adventure game developed by Volition for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. It features over-the-top action, reckless driving, bad language, prostitution and in-game games with puns and parodies of other well-known franchises; did I mention the near non-stop humour? From its radical appearance years ago as a GTA clone with a difference, this series has come a long way and distinguishes itself remarkably well. [youtube id=”Neq9ooqNqGk” […]

Hit by the Rebels – Crysis 3

Before “next-gen” consoles and the newer standards for games and graphics arrived it was no surprise if someone still had the original Crysis on their computer as a means to benchmark their rig. The series itself with the beauty the CryEngine can create within a virtual space and a simple glance at the tech trailer demos had us handing out cash for computer upgrades, better recording software and the games themselves. Crysis 3 was the final entry to the action packed First Person Shooter series and concluded the story arc from the first title. It was released on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, developed by Crytek UK and Crytek Frankfurt and was published by Electronic Arts. The […]

Hit by the Rebels – Dungeon Keeper 2

The last time a strategy and God game was really absolutely undeniably great was back in 1999, which is when the holy grail of EA’s publication life known as Dungeon Keeper 2 was released. That would also be the last time a production house really managed to make being evil feel way too good. Dungeon Keeper 2 was developed by Bullfrog productions (Theme Hospital) and released for Microsoft Windows in 1999, just before the turn of the century. It cast the player in the role of a “Keeper” who was tasked with constructing dungeons, managing the creatures which enter them, fighting off rival Keepers and goodly heroes and to find the portal gems that would open up a portal to […]

Rebellion Bio’s: His Divine SHadow

Today we interview the man behind 925 Rebellion and The Rebellion Boys, His Divine Shadow, aka ME! (Yes, I interviewed myself.) Your name? I’m not telling you a thing. Rank? Ruler of the League of 20,000 Planets, and owner of all things 925R. Position at Rebellion Boys? Usually curled into a ball in the corner of the office, weeping and cursing the gods for not providing me with enough staff. How did you get started on YouTube? It is all part of the plan. How does your YouTube channel compare to your other 925Rebellion work? I use my mouth words to make the brain flatulence appear on the video of recording. (It is, as they say, The school of the […]

Hit by the rebels – Faderhead’s Fistful of F*ck Yous

Remember 2D side-scroller arcade fighting games; those wonderfully plain yet eternally entertaining masterpieces like Ninja Turtles and Double Dragon that got bad sound effects stuck in your head for days? Those were the days right? Now you can relive your probably less-happy-than-you-like-to-admit childhood while enjoying some modern Electro, EBM, Industrial tunes simultaneously. The game is called Faderhead’s Fistful of F*ck Yous, and it is based on their 2012 song by the same name from their 5th album; World of Faderhead. This brawler was programmed voluntarily by Trev Nethers using the Open Beats Of Rage game-engine, so says the official site. [youtube id=”ajlCLQqhiOg” width=”600″ height=”350″] You play one of four selectable band members. The band member must then fight his way […]
