If by accident we actually did address some deep down desire then feast your eyes on Aquanox. Hit by the Rebels – Doom II: Hell on Earth

When My Chemical Romance sang “Mamma, we all go to hell” I’m guessing they saw the Doom games as prophets of our future. Should that be true, we really have a “Crysis” on our hands. Mars One has already been announced back in 2013 which aims to populate Mars, have we learned nothing from DOOM?! A long, long time ago in a galaxy that is identical to our own because it is ours, back in 1994 as a matter of fact, id Software developed a sequel to one of the defining titles in first person video game history, that was how Doom II: Hell on Earth came to be. It was initially developed for MS-DOS and Macintosh but is also […]

Hit by the Rebels – Star Trek Online:

No matter under which rock, or rather how many rocks you have hid, you will undoubtedly have heard of the great Star Trek universe, be it the games, the series, the movies or the expansive Klingon language it features. There is no escape from it. Though you might, like myself, never have gotten very far into nor understood most of said universe. Yes, I admit to not liking nor knowing much about the Star Trek Universe, however that won’t stop me from writing a little something about the Online Sci-Fi MMO RPG that has spawned as a result. Developed by Cryptic Studios in 2010, Star Trek Online (or STO for short) is one of many MMOs that still stand tall […]

Hit by the Rebels – Napoleon: Total War

Seasoned war veteran and once proud Emperor of France, the great Napoleon Bonaparte can be found in text books, children stories and video games alike. His historical influence still merits mentioning till today, however some of us may not be all that well informed of the specifics as to why this specific ruler is as famous as he is. Napoleon: Total War seeks to both educate and entertain, by allowing gamers to attempt to recreate the many harsh battles the Emperor once faced. It thus follows his career in four separate campaigns; one for his conquests in Italy, another for his invasion of Egypt, Mastery of Europe which is the major battles he fought for and within France, then the […]

Hit by the Rebels – Braid

If I could take it all back I would, or maybe I wouldn’t, but luckily I cannot so what’s the point in thinking about it? What am I on about? Braid of course, and its time twisting platforming fun which is more puzzling than my thoughts. Braid is a 2008 puzzle platforming game released for Xbox, PlayStation 3 and PC by the talented Number None Inc. You play as Tim who can jump run and climb his way through his 2D environments to solve puzzles and further tell his story. He also controls time which is more than a gameplay mechanic as it also makes the plot as interesting as it is. [youtube id=”uqtSKkyJgFM” width=”600″ height=”350″] Tim, you see, is […]

Hit by the Rebels – Evil Genius

Being bad feels oh-so very good, it’s a fact of life, we all know it. At some point you realise it’s more pleasurable to steal the condensed milk from the fridge than to get permission first, or drink alcohol while still under 18 or to build giant realms underground wherein your army of hideously disfigured evil creatures can grow until you are capable of taking over the surface world rather than run legitimately for president. However nothing quite captures the feeling quite as well as filling the shoes of an evil genius. Evil Genius is a 2004 real time strategy simulation game that Elixir studios developed for the PC. The player gets to choose one of three evil looking master […]
