Elex

I adore the Fallout series. I equally adore Skyrim. (Oblivion was good, but could have been better. -Ed) I also love open world games. So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out about a game that combines all the best elements of these games and then takes it up a notch.

This is the mouthwatering ELEX.

From what we know of this upcoming game it seems as if we are going to be in for another long-haul adventure that is going to take many, many months to complete. Now the game takes place in the future on a decimated world where the player is thrown into the middle of a war for precious and powerful resources known as ELEX (Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating, Xenial).

Now ELEX has a number of properties which can be used to power great machines, add magical abilities to ones DNA, and reshape life into new and terrifying forms. This has obviously led to a number of factions rising, all of whom have different ideas relating to the use of EXEL and other things…. (Insert sinister drum roll. -Ed)

It’s all pretty and alien like, isn’t it?

Now like most video-games you get to choose a side, (“The Berserkers have renounced modern technology and the use of Elex, instead finding a way to purify the substance into Mana to weave magic and restore life to nature. The Clerics fanatically worship a god called Calaan and operate like a religious police state; consuming Elex is expressly forbidden, but it is used to power complex war technologies. The Outlaws have no formal leadership and operate with a “survival of the fittest” mentality, using improvised and deadly weaponry, and consume Elex in the form of specialized stimulant drugs.” – Wikipedia) shape the world, make the future, and blah, blah, blah. Who cares about that stuff anyway? What we all care about is genocide and biscuits.

All I know is this: The game looks amazing. So much so it’s going to be at the top of Wookiee’s “I’ll get around to it one day” list. Thus, it’s a must have.
