DarcTyde Events!

Today we speak to Keith, the owner and driving force behind DarcTyde Events – a local Alternative-Underground nightclub extravaganza! Why did you decide to create DarcTyde Events? We started DarcTyde Events as a means to help promote the South African Goth Scene. We have many talented local Gothic and Darkwave artists, but so few venues are willing to give them a chance. We also simply wanted to throw some of the most awesome goth parties. Tell us a bit about the history of your organisation. We started DarcTyde in early 2001. Our first event would have been a 2-day goth event called Nocturne, but, at the last moment, the person who was funding the majority of the costs pulled out […]

Adam Baroni

Making God’s Bleed. (2014.) Actor, bodybuilder, pro-wrestler, father, all round good guy. Adam Baroni is an up-and-coming British actor and the face of H2N Nutrition. He has big dreams, a big heart, and bigger biceps. (Ladies you may now begin drooling.) Sophie’s Fortune. (2012.) When did you first know you wanted to become an actor? I knew I wanted to become a pro-wrestler AND an actor at the age of 8. The 1986 wrestling movie “BAD GUYS” starring Adam Baldwin & Mike Jolly was the first film that hooked me on the idea. What inspired you, and what continues to inspire you? I’m different to most actors. I’m more inspired by great people that become actors than the whole drama scene. […]

Five Bizarre APPS.

Applications. We all use them, and we all love them… mostly. Some of them are fantastic; some of them are amazing; some of them change our lives for the better…. and yet, there are some that are completely peculiar, completely ridiculous, completely bizarre… GEICO Brostache. This app is perfect for those who lack facial hair, or those who have accidentally shaved a day before Movember. (I did the latter. -Ed.) Essentially you pick a moustache, place the phone over your mouth and speak. The app will create a moustached version of you speaking. Pimple Popper. This is a game for the less spotty amongst your friends and family. Essentially, you have several faces that have various types of pimples on […]

THIEF.

“Felix, always helpful, also said that the catacombs are supposed to be haunted. Think I’ll go make some inquiries about where a ‘heretic’ like me can get some holy water. Always go prepared….” -Thief: Dark Project. Today is the day that the new Thief video-game is being released; and I must say I’m very excited. The Thief franchise, for the six of you who know nothing, is an FPS-Stealth game in which you play as the legendary thief, Garrett. Garrett has received specialist training and has access to all sorts of fancy toys and gadgets to help him fight and steal his way through an engrossing Steampunkesque-Fantasy world. “I know not why you oppose me. In one act, I will […]

Octodad: The Dadliest Catch, Your Life is Now Complete

“What if you were stuck trying to drive your own body?” Games can be classified into many genres, but now I present what might possibly be gaming’s first slapstick comedy: Octodad: The Dadliest Catch! “Blub blub blub” -Octodad. Developed by a group of students from DePaul University,Octodad started as a free game in 2010 and many of the people involved then became part of Young Horses Inc – which developed Octodad: Dadliest Catch! via Kickstarter funding. The premise of the game is simple enough: you are an octopus living secretly amongst humanity. Your (initially unknown) mission requires that you go through the day to day rigmarole of life as a human – undertaking tasks such as making a cup of […]

IIOIOIOII SUN REVIEW.

American based Electro artist Christopher Gurney delivers a Synthpop album full of nostalgia… and a fresh, modern feel. Rising Sky the opening track sets the tempo for whats expected, soft synths and dreamlike vocals make this song a beautiful opener. Track 2 Weapon is very catchy synthpop with a decent dance tempo, beeps and glitches dominate here reminds me of a eutopian world aiming for a state in which everything is perfect; idealistic. the vocal style differs in somde parts of he song which keeps the listener focused into the song as the tale wonders. Stardust is a beautifully written song, the use of soft synths and melodies transcends you (insert happy place) Do You Know is a much darker […]

Eisdrive Hours of Steel EP Review

This is not pretty listening… at all. This is as Industrial as hell. From Montclair, New Jersey (East Coast of the United States) comes Eisdrive; and their new four-track EP “Hours of Steel.” A Clockwork of dark and gritty… edgy sounds, uneasy listening, Eisdrive deliver an apocalyptic type of industrial which is akin to great acts like Front Line Assembly and early Leaether Strip.… but in no way copies the sound. [youtube id=”SWHf48AHhN8″ width=”600″ height=”350″] Official Facebook Page.   Hours of Steel is the soundtrack to your existence in urban decay.

TAMLA KAHN.

Today we speak to an up and coming South African three-piece rock outfit Tamla Kahn. Now they have an interesting story, coming from a small Limpopo town and relocating to Gauteng to keep up with demand to see them play. What’s the history of Tamla Kahn and origin of your name? John joined the band on 6 February, 2010 and we consider this our official birthday. Before he joined, the band had gone through several working titles, but it was everyone’s decision in the end to call the band Tamla Kahn –Tamla’s full name being Tamla Kahn McMahon– not only because Tamla had started the band, but also because it is original and unique, and we didn’t just want a […]
