Razer: Kraken 7.1 Chroma

There is something to be said about the immersive experience of quality sound. The gentle footfalls, the silent cries, the heart stopping dialogue, the pounding of guns and the awesome power of nuclear explosions. Sound is probably the most important part of the immersive entertainment experience. And one company, Razer, is helping to drive that experience to the next level with its Kraken 7.1 headphones -part of the Chroma series.

The headphones come with a number of impressive little features:

  • Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma surround sound gaming headset
  • Advanced 7.1 virtual surround sound engine
  • Enhanced digital microphone
  • Designed for extended gaming comfort
  • Chroma lighting with 16.8 million customizable color options
  • Razer Synapse enabled
  • Powerful drivers for highest-quality gaming audio
  • Closed ear cup design for optimal sound isolation
  • Foldable ear cups for maximum portability

All of these give you a fantastically clear and top quality experience.

Now something that I adore about these headphones is the their comfort. Quite often you wear a headset that begins to irritate your ears and hurt your head after only a few hours of use. But the Kraken 7.1 is without a doubt one of the most comfortable pair of headphones I have ever used. SO much so that I kept them on for several hours without incident.

For those who read my previous article regarding the Chroma series, you will know that I produced a number of Let’s Play videos for our up and coming YouTube channel, Rebellion Boys. Now for these videos I used the Kraken’s on-board microphone to record my splendid ramblings, and I must say the quality of this little microphone is incredibly impressive. The sound is clear. There is virtually no distortion. And the microphone bends beautifully to the contours of your face.

Now not only is the Kraken a monster for gaming. But she also does a fantastic job with movies and music. In fact I have a DJ friend who would love to use a pair of these for DJ’ing.

There is not much else I can tel you about this beast apart from the Kraken 7.1, like the rest of the Chroma series, is a fantastic piece of technology. Well worth the R1000+/- purchase price. It, like the rest of the Chroma series, will keep you in good quality gaming for years to come.
