Guardians of the galaxy star wars trailer Mashup Alex luthor’s Mashup videos are always on point and pretty well done to say the least. This is no exception. THE BATTLE FOR HATFIELD SQUARE

What do you get when an immovable object encounters an unstoppable force? Well, in the case of Hatfield square, it seems like that object gets demolished. Hatfield square or “The Square” as it was popularly known as, was a popular hub for students featuring bars, clubs and everything in between. All of this changed on that fateful day when Loki of Asgard, tore open a portal in the sky and the alien workmen poured out. What Loki hadn’t counted on was that his brother, Thor and his companions, The Avengers, were across the road enjoying some shawarma. The portal tore open over Dropzone and the alien horde emerged accompanied by what can only be described as strobe lights and smoke […]

Geekfest 2015 – Part 5, aka Goodbye for now

And here we are, at the end of an amazing day. It’s just got 11 PM, and Wookiee and I have just finished our last drink at the banquette. (I had a Guinness. He had a coke. Thought you’d like to know.) As I stand here, the cold night air crawling across Hubbard Park, followed closely by a soupy fog, I think back over the amazing day that we have had, and sadly of all the events we have missed. That’s right. Even we have regrets. Even though Geekfest 2015, has been an absolutely thrilling event, and our writers have experienced a number of amazing and fantastic happenings, we couldn’t see everything we wanted to see. There’s a list of […]

Classic MTV cartoons

I remember the glory days of MTV. During those ancient times, MTV was known for a quality cartoon shows. Here’s my top 5. Celebrity Deathmatch: We’ll start with everyone’s favourite, Celebrity Deathmatch! For those who have not seen this amazing 6 season (1998-2002. 2006-2007), clay-mation monster, you’re missing out. Essentially, the show features various celebrities (rendered in clay), fighting to the death in a blood soaked, commentary filled, super power flinging, melee of note. Beavis and Butthead: Next we have the myths, the legends, the compulsive ejaculators, Beavis and Butthead.  Running from 1993 to 1997, and again in 2011, this amazing 8 season show taught us about the power of love, friendship, comradeship… (Anyone buying this?) Essentially these two butt-munching […]

Vittorio Leonardi

Today we speak to one of the brightest stars in South African comedy, Vittorio Leonardi. So what’s new Vittorio? I’ve just come back from a gig in Los Angeles where I represented South Africa in a comedy competition. It was great fun and if I had hacker buddies, who knows, I could’ve won. On the upside, I think this is the first contest Finland has won since the winter war with the Russians in 1940. Still it was a fantastic experience and my set went well. Considering that it was my first time performing in the US, that was a brilliant feeling. How did you get started in stand-up comedy? I had no intention of becoming a comedian. It never […]
