WarCall (Band Interview)

WarCall Invaders

Today we chat to WarCall! Let’s start with this: What’s the history of your band?  The band will officially be 10 years going in the fall of 2017.  We come from a metal background and as with every band, our story is long and paved with the bodies of wounded soldiers.  WarCall came to be in 2007 on the aftermath of our previous band breaking up.  We wanted a more aggressive approach in our music, have always had an interest in war stories so the war theme was natural and WarCall was born.  The lineup for this album is the same than for III the previous one and it marks the first time we make 2 albums with the same […]

Esprit D’Air (Tour Interview)

Today we chat to our old friends Esprit D’Air. Let’s start with this: How has Esprit D’Air been doing since we last spoke? Kai: Since we last spoke in November 2016, we released three singles and a full-length album, Constellations. So, I guess we have been doing a lot! It has been a busy year, just constantly recording every month and playing quite a few shows but the end result has been worth it. We managed to get played on Kerrang! Radio, Total Rock and had TeamRock premiere our video and album release. How has your new album Constellations been doing? Kai: It was the first time we saw our music in real stores like HMV and Best Buy. We were so excited visiting the shops and seeing […]

I AM OUT OF HERE

This is it folks. I am done. I am finished. I am out of here. 5 years of doing 925 Rebellion. Close to 1000 articles. A YouTube channel. Podcast shows. Events, and blah, blah, blah…. For the dozen of you that care I shall say this: I am leaving 925 simply because new opportunities have opened themselves to me; new creative outlets are being explored; and new adventures are being planned. As of now, you ALL belong to the Empire Of The Hairy One. Viva el Wookiee! “Have a better one.” – Blade Runner. (1982)

Buried Realm (Band Interview)

Today we speak to Buried Realm. Let’s start with this: What’s the history of your band? In 2007 I (Josh Dummer) started Buried Realm. I only recorded a few demos, nothing serious. I was wrapped up in other projects until a few years ago when I decided it was time to do this. Fast forward to now and the first album is finished and ready to unleash on September 29th! What’s your musical history? (Trained or Amateur)? I have no formal training under my belt. Jamming with other musicians has taught and challenged me the most. I never had much interest in learning other bands’ music because I want to create my own. This has made my style somewhat unconventional. […]

Mason (Band Interview)

Today we speak to Mason! Let’s start with this: What’s the history of your band?  In the very beginning the original line-up of Mason consisted of Andrew Hudson (Harlott) on vocals, Glen Gamble on Bass, Nonda on the drums, Ryan Butler (Ex Harlott/Mason) on guitar and myself Jimmy Benson on guitar. That lasted a few years and we recorded our first self-titled ep/demo. Shortly after Glen decided to leave to further with his studies which forced Hudson to take on vocals & Bass. Soon after was the departure of Ryan Butler and soon after Andrew left the band which left myself and Nonda back to square one. At this point the first album “Warhead” was ready to be recorded, but […]

Protosequence (Band Interview)

Today we speak to Protosequence. Let’s start with this: What’s the history of your band?  Protosequence was just an idea in our original vocalists head. After meeting Kyle, Marshall brought all the members (Logan, Parker, Kyle, Ryan) together to form Protosequence. After some time Joe was introduced into the band as the current vocalist. Once we secured this line up Protosequence were introduced into the Edmonton music scene. From there we toured throughout Alberta and dabbled into BC. As we progressed Ryan wanted to explore more of his life and that is where Jacob Teeple stepped up as our current bassist. 2017 has been a big year for us and looking forward to 2018. What’s your musical history? (Trained or […]

Decatur (Band Interview)

Today we chat to Decatur. What’s the history of your band? Decatur started while recording our debut record “Badder Than Brooklyn” with Joe Duplaniter at Silver Cord Studios in 2016. We had originally gone there to record under a different name. It was going to be the 5th record released by Jay “Beard” Sarrazin’s old band. But while recording the record the sound that was being created was nothing like Beard’s old band. And since the members that were now playing in that band were completely different and all new members, it was suggested by Joe Duplaniter, Taylor Bingley and Johann Meyer that maybe this would be the best time to start fresh. The members were different, the sound was […]

Doyle: As We Die (Album Review)

Power. Power! POWER! Simply put: This is an album that is packed with power. My God, the power coming out of my speakers right now is something else entirely. This is “As We Die” from the brutal Doyle. The songs on this, 13 track, album are about as awesome as Metal can be. The guitar work is driving; the drumming is commanding; and the vocal style will leave you in awe… and a little frightened. Kiss Me As We Die Beast Like Me God Of Flies Run For Your Life Darkside Witchcraft Kind Of The Undead Virgin Sacrifice We Belong Dead Show No Mercy Dark Gods Arise Blood On The Axe Night Of Sin Now all the songs on this […]

G.L.O.W. – Emotions (Album Review)

Many of you will think that today’s review will be biased as we are friends with the audio-dream spinner. And you know what? You are correct. This is G.L.O.W. with his first record-label produced album “Emotions“. Firstly I’d like to congratulate Mr. G.L.O.W for being signed up by the brilliant Dark A.C.E Records. Secondly, I’d like to simply say: “Well done, Richard! Nice to see your work getting a professional release.” (Wookiee, do you think if we keep this up he’ll buy us lunch? -Shadow). Right, so let’s get on with this review. The songs on this 10 track album, as you can no doubt expect, are, as is G.L.O.W.’s style, a veritable banquet of hard EBM/Industrial sounds, styles and […]

Hogan’s Goat: Hogan’s Goat (Album Review)

There is something wonderful about actual, real, proper bloody Hard Rock. I am not certain what that something is; but I know that I love it. Case in point, I recently received a backside kicking debut album. This is Hogan’s Goat with their album, Hogan’s Goat. Now as debut albums go this one -a 10 track monster- is quite simply an exercise in perfection. The songs show you their true colours and potential from the start. Not once does the album lose its path or abandon its style in favour of simplistic and rehashed nonsense. Indeed, this album gives you quality from start to finish. Rat Boy Pennymade Shit Kicker Annie Off The Rails Over The Palisade If I’m Dead […]
