This is Not Your Grandfathers Star Trek (It’s Better)

“I fear the Federation is on the verge of collapse” -Admiral Pavel Chekov. In May 2005, Star Trek Enterprise ended its run. This marked the first time since 28 September 1987 that there had not been at least one Star Trek series on air. Both the Network and fans were starting the feel that the franchise had become stale. In 2007 Star Trek of Gods And Men, a fan film created in honour of the 40th anniversary of the franchise, appeared online. This magnificent film contained quite a few stars from the different Star Trek series’. It has been released free to the public via their YouTube Page. Then in 2012, many of the people involved in Of Gods And Men […]

SHADOW SYSTEM!

Twisted Sex Malfunction.  Today we interview the Irish based band, Shadow System. Now Shadow System is a relatively new face in the underground electronic scene, though they have the style and the skill to become a major player. Cold And Double Bladed. What’s the origin of your name? The name took some time to get right. I wanted something with shadow in it but a lot of bands and DJ’s use Shadow. (As does do I. -Ed.)When I was listening to a band called Krystal System and that’s when it click into my head, Ah, System. What’s your history? Adam Gamble had a idea for a band project since 2004 but never got things up and running until 2010/2011 era, […]

LARVA!

BURIED ALIVE! Today we speak to a well known Spanish, Dark-Electro band, LARVA. Now LARVA is planning/hoping to come and perform in South Africa, so spread the word to all those in the music scene. Lets see if we can get them here! Look at the FACEBOOK PAGE for details. YOU ARE ALONE. What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? It has many nuances. The name became for what we feel sometimes: sometimes we feel like a worm, insignificant life form, underground, crawling. Nobody can’t feel us, nobody can’t see us. All the life is on the surface, and we are underground. The feeling of not belonging to a group. It also has to […]

VAC! (Velvet Acid Christ!)

CHURCH OF ACID. (1997) Today we interview one of my favourite American bands. VAC -Velvet Acid Christ. For over two decades VAC has been making waves and spreading weirdness throughout the underground music scene; with his unique lyrics, master sound sampling, and esoteric equipment tastes, VAC is set to continue reigning in the underground music scene for years to come. FUN WITH KNIVES. (1999) What’s origin of your name? My brain created it on drugs. LOL. What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Many fused together. Bits of Industrial, bits of Techno, bits of Trip-Hop, bits of EBM, bits of Goth, bits of Darkwave. Bits of weird. What’s the history of VAC? Started in 1990 in […]

Kung Fury

“When I started this project over a year ago I was driven by a strong will, love for the 80s and action movies to create a unique movie that the world has never seen” – David Sandberg Some of our older readers may remember the ’80’s, for those that don’t, it was a time when being cheesy, and having bad hair were cool. And ’80’s movies were no exception. For Swedish film maker David Sandberg, the fact it is 2014 is no reason not to make an ’80’s movie. He has written (and stars in) KUNG FURY, an over-the-top action comedy featuring: laser shooting arcade-robots, dinosaurs, Nazis, vikings, Norse gods, mutants and a Miami cop who plays by his own […]

An Early Look at SteamOS

What is SteamOS ? Most people out there have probably heard of Steam. But for those of you who haven’t, it is a software package created by Valve Corporation (Half-Life, Portal,  Source), initially as a DRM -patch delivery system for their games. In its early days many users outside the U.S.A did not have very powerful/stable internet, and the requirement of being connected to the Steam service whenever playing a game was not well liked. Over time connectivity improved and became less of an issue. Valve also began to convince other publishers to release their products over the Steam service, thus becoming an app store of sorts. As game/software purchases are linked to your Steam account, you can reinstall computer/setup a new […]

WELCOME BACK! WELCOME TO 2014.

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier’…” – Alfred Tennyson. Welcome back. It’s a new year, a new month, a new start and a fresh hangover. 2013 already seems like a distant memory. Last year was a year of great possibilities: We planted the seeds, nurtured them as often as we could, and now, after 365 days, those possibilities are beginning to bear fruit. “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. And next year’s words await another voice.” – T.S. Eliot. This year 925|Rebellion is going through a metamorphosis of sorts. We shall still be dedicated to all things Geek, but we shall be tumbling farther down the rabbit hole. […]

THE GOON SHOW!

“Splendid, lads. Tell me where it is and I’ll reduce your sentence from two years to four.” – Seagoon. Haaallooooo everybody! Welcome to the first day of the New Year. That’s right, it’s 1951.. or it should be. For 1951 was the year of the Goons. Can you believe it’s been 63 years since the splendid Spling-splang-splong began? Where has the explodable cardboard cut out time gone? Well let us start by walking backwards for Christmas, across the Irish Sea, and thus see if we can find… “THE LOST GOONS” (Drum roll, please.) “Well, sir, it’s like this, see. At 12.30 a monster lorry draws up outside, ten men jump out and wallop me on the head. I turn round […]

Total Annihilation – A Legend Going Strong!

“What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.” – Opening Credits. Released in 1997 Total Annihilation is approaching 17 years old now, yet is probably still one of the best most innovative RTS games ever made. […]

The Desolation of Tolkien. (WARNING! SPOILER ALERT!)

Today we welcome a new writer to 925|Rebellion. His name is Wookiee, and like the fictional race, he is tall, hairy and makes strange sound effects when he communicates. So join me in welcoming the Manimal to 925. The Desolation of Smaug, second in the film series based on The Hobbit is now in cinemas. The Hobbit was Tolkien’s first published work (1937) set in Middle Earth. Any film adaptation of a book will never be exactly the same as the source for many reasons, and this film is no exception. Below is a breakdown of the major changes from the novel. (SPOILER ALERT!) Beorn’s Lodge: In the novel, Gandalf and Bilbo meet Beorn by themselves first, with Gandalf telling […]
