Aliens?

I adore the Alien franchise. The original three films were fantastic. Yes, I said three! I loved Alien 3. Hell, I even enjoyed parts of Alien: Resurrection. I shall even be so bold as to say that I found joy in a few parts of the Alien VS Predator films. But, the one thing I have enjoyed even more than this amazing film franchise is the cheap knock-off’s and badly inspired films that have swamped the world since those glorious days. Welcome to my five favourite bastard children of the Alien franchise. The Deadly Spawn (1983) We’ll start with this little gem. Made for less than $25,000 this -let’s be honest here- indie film is perhaps one of the most […]

Sleepaway Camp (Cult Review)

I was originally going to write a review for Into the Badlands (Season 2), but then I thought: “Everyone else is doing it. So why the hell should I?” Instead I am going to write a review for a cult classic horror film and its sequels. Oh, and from now on I’d like to be called “Susan.” It’s my right as a strong independent black woman. Now for the half-dozen horror fans that are here let me introduce you -or reintroduce you- to the legendary “Sleepaway Camp” and its legion of sequels. Now the original film was released in 1983, and follows the story of a group of campers who indulge in whatever it is American campers engage in whilst […]

Best of the worst. (Film Review)

It has been a while since we did anything film related. Oh, let’s be honest, it’s been bloody years since we looked at anything not music related. Thus today is going to be a day of some significance, for today we look at perhaps the best-worst movie ever made. Today we look at… THE ROOM (2003) Right, so we’ll jump right in with this: Wookiee made me watch this film. I’m still in therapy and have developed a morphine addiction from seeing it. (That’s my excuse and I am sticking with it!)  I am calm…. I’m calm… No I’m not….. Right, so for the dozen of you that have never seen this film let me give you a little background […]

The Man In The High Castle (Review)

The universe is full of “what if” moments. It is part of the cornerstone of human nature to guess, assume and visualise what could have, would have, and will possibly happen. It’s in our very DNA. We like to assume, and we like to see alternative ways in which things can play out. So it should come as no surprise that someone wrote a book, and someone made a TV series based around the idea that the NAZI’s and the Empire of Japan won WW2. This is the amazing book and TV show “The Man In The High Castle”. Right, so we’ll start with a little background for this show. “The Man In The High Castle” was the brainchild of […]

Diablo: Rise of The Hunter

Today we speak to French-Canadian actor, Jean Drolet about his role in the new Diablo fan film “Diablo: Rise of The Hunter“. How did you get involved in Diablo: Rise of The Hunter? Well two, two years ago I was invited to a private screening by a young friend of mine Carlos Cobezas. He was the film Director and Stephanie Van Rijn Vincent (Valla) was the lead actress. A year passed liking each other’s postings until I’ve been invited to a scenario first reading of DIABO: ‘’Rise of The Hunter’’. There I met Amanda Lynn Petrin (Halissa) and Luc Godbout that became DIABLO’s Film Director. We repeat one scene or two to pin point meaning sand will and then there […]

Time Commanders

Anyone that knows me is aware that I am a fanatical study of military history. Granted, I enjoy history in general, but there is something captivating about military history. I do not think that there is a subject on Earth that has shaped the course of humanity like that of military history.   Case in point: if it were not for the Norman invasion of Anglo-Saxon England in 1066, England/English would not be what it is; the UK would not have been formed; the British Empire would not have happened and English would not be the most used language on Earth. Additionally, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, India and numerous other nations would either not exist or would probably […]

Enemy of Rome.

We recently spoke to French-Canadian, Sylvano Harvey about his recent project, Enemy of Rome. Enemy of Rome. Now that’s a concept we can get behind. How did it all begin? I can try to make it short, but it might be hard (laughing), how it started… well as a actor here in Quebec, I can say that we do not have any productions of this type, it is very rare that we can have the chance of playing something like this, even harder when you are not a « known actor » Then, there is the other fact, when we have big American productions, like 300 and Immortal etc. they look always for tall and very built people, 6’ and […]

Stranger Things

Recently, for those of you that pay attention, I have had quite a few issues with anything coming out of the USA/Hollywood. (They’ve been making crap.) But as of last week they have redeemed themselves to no end. So much so, that I have re-watched this work of genius three times already. And I can tell you this: I’m going to watch Stranger Things several dozen times again. Well, at least until Season 2 comes out and helps me with my addiction. Right, so where do we start with this amazing series? Well, for one, it is one of the best Netflix owned web-series ever made. It was written and directed by the amazing Duffer Brothers. (They are veteran horror […]

Independence Day: Resurgence

I have just finished watching Independence Day: Resurgence. That’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back. I feel used and betrayed. You would think that after the twenty years since they released the first film they would have at least come up with a half decent screenplay. But no. No, they simply went and reproduced every cliche they could find and added a large dollop of patriotic flag waving nonsense. For a Sci-Fi film, Independence Day: Resurgence is ass gravy of the worst time. Right then. Where shall I begin my assassination of this *vomit* film? Let’s start with the plot shall we. So the film happens, as previously stated, some twenty years after the first one. (I’m […]

The Shallows

I’m back. Well sort of. Well, you’re stuck with me for a short time at any rate. That’s okay. Is it okay? I think it’s okay. Are you okay? How are you? Did you get that thing done we were talking about last year? Is it larger than expected? I hops so. You have my support if you plan to enlarge it again. Okay. Right. Let’s get on with this review. It’s been a while so bear with me. Here we go… I recently watched (30 minutes ago) the latest “killer shark” movie. For those that do not know, this film –The Shallows– it revolves around a female surfer who gets chased around the sea by a large shark. She […]
