Robo Recall (Game Preview)

Gaming. Gaming. Gaming. Gaming. Gaming. (I do hope you’re making a note of all this. -Ed) I adore video games. Mostly computer based ones. But I am open -and a little aroused- by new and interesting games on wonderfully unique platforms. Now many of you will have heard of the Oculus Rift and its groundbreaking “virtual reality” technologies. With these new ways of playing video games has come, obviously, a whole plethora of new video games. Now the one that has whet many appetites of late is Robo Recall. GAME FACT: You need an Oculus Touch to play the game. Now the game is set in the future, obviously, and revolves around a new and exciting robot technology that goes […]

Best of the worst. (Film Review)

It has been a while since we did anything film related. Oh, let’s be honest, it’s been bloody years since we looked at anything not music related. Thus today is going to be a day of some significance, for today we look at perhaps the best-worst movie ever made. Today we look at… THE ROOM (2003) Right, so we’ll jump right in with this: Wookiee made me watch this film. I’m still in therapy and have developed a morphine addiction from seeing it. (That’s my excuse and I am sticking with it!)  I am calm…. I’m calm… No I’m not….. Right, so for the dozen of you that have never seen this film let me give you a little background […]

The Sweetest Condition: We Defy Oblivion

It has been a little over a year since I was first introduced to music of The Sweetest Condition. Even now, after hearing “Edge Of The World” several dozen times, I am still taken aback by the shear effulgence of the album and the absolute brilliance of the duo that created it. I could fill several manuscripts explaining why I think Jason is one of the best musicians I have ever met -his command and skill with instruments is practically orgasmic. I could fill volumes describing in lurid detail why I think Leslie is among the best lyricists alive today; and why she is a phenomenal singer. I could drain a thousand inkwells enlightening the universe as to why every song released […]

Time Commanders

Anyone that knows me is aware that I am a fanatical study of military history. Granted, I enjoy history in general, but there is something captivating about military history. I do not think that there is a subject on Earth that has shaped the course of humanity like that of military history.   Case in point: if it were not for the Norman invasion of Anglo-Saxon England in 1066, England/English would not be what it is; the UK would not have been formed; the British Empire would not have happened and English would not be the most used language on Earth. Additionally, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, India and numerous other nations would either not exist or would probably […]

so long and thanks for all the fish

“The time has come,” the Walrus said, “To talk of many things: Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax– Of cabbages–and kings– And why the sea is boiling hot– And whether pigs have wings.” The time has indeed come, ladies and gentlemen, to talk of other things… and indeed to move on to other things. Today I write my “final” article for 925 Rebellion. For you see folks, the time has finally come for me to step down as the head of 925 Rebellion and move on with my life. (By move on, I mean immigrate.) It’s been a blast, folks. But do not worry, we’re not going to be shutting down the website, killing the YouTube or silencing the Twitter page. In […]

The BFG is being given the touch of movie magic it deserves and we’ve just received the first glimpse

The BFG is an acronym that rings a bell of recognition in the back of most of our minds. If you were a literary geek in school you probably read, and fell in love, with this Roald Dahl classic tale of escape and heroism. And if you were a gamer in the 1990’s you are likely to link the BFG with the game Doom, where it represented a “Bio Force Gun” or “Big, Uh, Freakin’ Gun”, but this is a discussion for a completely different article (and one we should have, because you know, Doom!). When rumours started about the Big Friendly Giant being adapted to film, I’m not shy to admit that I was more than a little bit […]

Chipmunks went ‘Full Goth’.

A few days ago a friend of mine shared a peculiar song to my Facebook wall. It was something odd. Something interesting. And upon a little Google researching it become something mind blowing! For you see, ladies and gentlemen, a chap named Brian Borcherdt has taken the music from some older Alvin And The Chipmunks recordings, slowed them down to a crawl and unleashed them on an unsuspecting world. It’s amazing. Brilliant, in fact. To be honest, it sounds like a half-dead Goth is mumbling lifeless pop hits into the void of oblivion.  I’m simply in awe of this unique and interesting musical experience. Hell, I’d even buy an album if it came out.

Detroit: Become Human

Every once in a while a game comes along that instantly knocks your socks off with its style, characters, design and plot. And this! THIS! This is such a game! This is Detroit: Become Human the most recent arrival from the amazing French studio Quantic Dream. This gorgeously made PS4 game revolves around Kara, a highly advanced android who escapes the confines of the factory assembly plant and makes her way into Detroit, USA, where she begins to explore her mind, body and, if you like, soul in a world where humans are otherwise and androids and simplistic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLmxQj_w6V8

Star Wars: The Hype Awakens

The room falls silent as dozens of fans wait with batted breath for the trailer of trailers to begin. Dripping with nervous and excited sweat the fans cling to the edge of their seats as the two minute SFX smorgasbord plays out before their tearing eyes. This is what the world experienced a few weeks ago. This is what the world wanted to see. This is what has united and excited the masses. This is something I’ve enjoyed, but! I cannot help but ask the question: Is it all hype? Now before you all declare war on me and unleash the unbridled power of ‘The Force’ on 925 Rebellion, let me flesh out my question; which breaks down to this: […]

Fallout 4: Yes, No, Maybe?

There is something romantic in wandering the radioactive wastes alone and heavily armed. I cannot place my finger on the exact reason it gets my heart pumping. Perhaps it’s to do with the smell of the dust? The Gamma flavoured air? The joy of eating 200 year old canned food? Or perhaps it’s do to with slaughtering your foes, smashing their skulls in, looting their corpses and flogging their junk? Perhaps it’s all of these fantastic elements combined. Who knows? Regardless, the time has come to once again don the habiliments of the waste, raise your Plasma Rifle and charge into the fray! The time has come for FALLOUT 4. Now over the past few months. Nay, years. Over the […]
