Resident Evil 3

As before originally on the Psx/Ps1 I am now playing it on the Ps3 too, this time you play as Jill Valentine set in Raccoon City at the same time as Res Evil 2, while you never encounter Leon or Clare, you encounter a prototype Tyrant code named Nemesis! Created and designed to track down the remaining S.T.A.R.S members, as they are the ones who have exposed Umbrella as the cause of the leak of the T-Virus. GAMEPLAY: Far more enhanced upon then the first of two installments, the puzzles are rushed not because the gameplay is pushing you on but because Nemesis is always on you heels. With the introduction of the flash choice in game option, when facing […]

Waste: Warlord Mentality

Warlord Mentality, the latest offering by American group, WASTE, is as deafening and destructive as anything they’ve produced in the past decade. The album is fast and aggressive. The lyrics are few, but unneeded as the grinding Industrial power presses the, 12 track, album forward on all fronts. Tracks like “Caveman” and “No More Feelings” are bursting with neo-tribal insanity and jam-packed with pure unadulterated industrial noise. The rest of the album leaves little to the imagination as track after track is stuffed to bursting with grinding power. Overall “Warlord Mentality” is a powerful and driven album that will appeal to fans of grinding noise and fast experimental Industrial music. The album is available on Bandcamp.

Petrol Bastard: Nice Jacket Dickhead

I love my job. I get access to new and exciting technology, interviews with celebrities and access to all sorts of interesting music -though few bands are as outlandish as Petrol Bastard. Petrol Bastard are a band that abraids the senses -despite the ‘swan shit on their dicks’. They are like the bastard lovechild of Prodigy, the Beastie Boys and the Jerky Boys -though with less class and more attitude. (A great combination considering they come from Politically Correct, Europe). (I won’t say P.C Yorkshire; as P.C is minging up North). https://soundcloud.com/petrolbastard/01-blast-it-with-piss?in=petrolbastard/sets/nice-jacket-dickhead The tracks on this, 17 song, album are short and aggressive. Petrol Bastard’s combination of EBM and industrial, with uniquely urban and humourous lyrics is an amazing breath […]

Pantheon: Intervention

It’s powerful. It’s driving. It’s riddled with guitar solos, intense drumming and abraids your inner head banging demon. (That’s assuming you still have hair at my age.) “Intervention” the first offering from British Metal band, Pantheon, though short (4 songs) it is an intense and powerful little album that is peppered with classic 70’s and 80’s style Metal -which is fantastic in this age of Nu Metal. The songs, such as ‘Silent Apocalypse’ take you back to an age of leather trousers, long hair, minute long guitar solos and boom boxes. Overall: “Intervention” is a fantastic and well done little Metal album that should whet a number of appetites. The album is available on Soundcloud and the official Pantheon website.

Resident Evil 2

Also originally on the Psx/Ps1 I am now playing it on the Ps3 too, this time you play as one of two characters Léon S. Kennedy a rookie to the R.P.D or Clare Redfield who has come to Raccoon City looking for her brother Chris. GAMEPLAY: Slightly enhanced upon the first of the installment, this is once more so involving so in-depth the gamer is hooked once again on the survival horror angle, the puzzles, the new enemies, the dual layered scenario game play that’s been introduced to this installment. Complete the first scenario as we’ll say Leon, once you complete that play-through and save the game you’ll be able to load that saved game as Clare, while both play […]

Resident Evil 1

Originally on the Psx/Ps1 I am now playing it on the Ps3 however, I have played it on the original console long before the Ps3. While the story for each resident evil game varies from place to place it always comes back to this one. Your paly as Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, you are a member of the S.T.A.R.S Alpha team locates Bravo Team’s helicopter, but there are no signs of survivors, however Alpha Team is attacked by infected dogs, killing one of the team members. Alpha Team is forced to seek refuge within a nearby mansion, thought to be abandoned. Wesker, Chris, Jill and Barry (Alpha Team) when searching the vast mansion members of bravo team are found, […]

The Evil Within

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, a veteran police detective walks into a mental hospital and gets attacked; thereafter he murders millions of non-zombies. I have no idea where I was hoping to take that and neither does The Evil Within apparently. When the original creator of the loved Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami, sat down to pen the concept of The Evil Within (or Psycho Break if you’re from Japan) he quite evidently ran out of inspiration. The Evil Within, published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by Tango Gameworks, is an action horror game (read, “should have been”) that offers a lot to love for all the wrong reasons. The player takes control of the drip-dried drama […]

Cryptic Dawn: Aggrometh

The first track assaults your senses within seconds of the sound system coming to life. The second and third tracks continue the attack; and by the time you get to track twelve your head is left in a distorted mess by the pure power of Cryptic Dawn’s electcro-aggression. Aggrometh -the long awaited LP- picks up where Old Blood left off. Once again Cryptic Dawn has delved into the world of popular culture, drugs, guns and meth. Namely the meth of American hit TV show, Breaking Bad. [youtube id=”Xce8WhOKcjQ” width=”600″ height=”350″] All the tracks on this album are well executed -the beats hard, the drums tribal and the synths hauntingly simple; and the singing, though hard and distorted, still sinks into […]

Paresis: Hope Lies Torn

I am often prone to the curse of logorrhea; but today I will attempt to curtail my ramblings and furnish you with the simple facts. Fact One: Paresis is a great band. Fact Two: The first song “Not in my name” kicks you in the head causing frenzied movements and peculiar dance-floor dominating dance moves that could bring about the end of days or the zombie apocalypse. Fact Three: The rest of the album is just as powerful at pounding your speakers, assaulting your head and causing you to attack the dance-floor. Fact Four: Songs like “Anti Me” and “Your voice” are but the tip of the iceberg that this amazing band has created over the years. The guitar riffs […]

.5:The Gray Chapter Prieview

.5:The Gray Chapter is the 5th Studio album by US band SlipKnoT. Released worldwide on 21 October 2014 this is their first album release in six years, and the first not to feature deceased bassist Paul Gray (whom the album title is an ode to) or  drummer Joey Jordison, who parted ways with the band in 2013. The album contains a balance of the melodic style of newer albums, but also incorporates the harder more brutal style of the Iowa era. The pain the band suffered from the loss of Paul is evident in the sombre tone of the album, as well as Corey Taylor’s emotional lyrics. The emotional track Goodbye and the frustrated Skeptic are both clear tributes to […]
